Interesting Facts About Dr. Tammy
Praise Dancer
For many years, I have been a Worship Arts / Interpretive Praise Dancer in church, and also started a Mime Team Drama ministry. I have ministered through songs in churches and special events, performed at family reunions, and even a talent show. I love the arts and being able to freely express myself and my love for God through worship, praise, dance, and drama.
Former Runner
I was an avid runner in my younger days. I stopped running over 10 years ago, and I miss it so much! I averaged 8-10 miles total per week (3 miles every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) and jumped rope everyday (M-F), averaging 3,000-4,000 jumps daily. For me, it was the best way to tone my entire body. It also helped me develop tremendous discipline overall and improve my speed, agility, and endurance.
Funny and Witty
I have a great sense of humor and love to laugh, even at myself. I am probably the funniest person in my entire family—at least that's what I'm told! I can do stand-up comedy (clean, of course) about life and family, and spot-on impressions of people. As a former/retired school principal, I was also known to prank my staff from time to time, and was told I've got the best poker face in the world. Life is short, so I spread laughter and joy wherever I can.
Hobbies
I love singing, watching college football (and the NFL), real estate scouting, interior decorating, event planning, any design projects—like this website, (for example), and gardening. I am a true green thumb! I also love traveling, exploring hiking trails, quiet walks, and trying out new recipes.
Dr. Tammy's Bio
Dr. Tammy Mason is a Leadership and Business Consultant, Strategic Philanthropist, Educational Leader, Adjunct Professor, Ordained Minister, and Author. She is passionate about supporting foundations, charities and causes related to educational scholarships, faith-based organizations, small businesses, and health organizations research within the community and abroad. As a former Strategic Philanthropist with iCovest Academy for several years, Dr. Tammy is adept at providing guidance in financial literacy, stewardship, and community development, in addition to reviewing business plans and proposals for organizations. Professionally, she has also served as a teacher, assistant principal, school principal at all levels, director of alternative education, and college professor.
With over 32 years of experience as an organizational and educational leader, Dr. Tammy is highly recommended and recruited as a leadership coach/mentor and facilitates training for aspiring leaders and small business owners. Her skill set and areas of expertise are diverse, and include leadership development, organizational leadership, strategic planning, strategic philanthropy, and professional development. Dr. Tammy is also a co-author of an international bestselling book in which she shares her testimony of salvation, faith, and serving God as being the primary reason behind her success.
Equipped with degrees in educational leadership, curriculum and instruction, administration and supervision, and elementary education, Dr. Tammy challenges current and aspiring leaders to carefully evaluate and examine their purpose, their WHY, and provides support and guidance, encouragement, hope, and insight of how to successfully lead a team of people, while bringing out their full potential and best self.
Dr. Tammy has a unique way of communicating with others as she leads with compassion and a servant’s heart, yet utilizes a simple “no-nonsense” approach that has gained her the admiration and respect of many — including educators, as well as those in the private business sector and corporate world.
Dr. Tammy has earned numerous leadership and service awards throughout her career, including 3x Teacher-of-the-Year, Outstanding Educator Award, Outstanding Leadership and Service Award, and the NAACP Educator’s Award for her contributions to molding a better future for youth. She is a member of the National Education Association (NEA), the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), and the Advisory Board for the School of Education at Emmanuel University.
Actively involved in her community, Dr. Tammy has held a myriad of other leadership positions, including President of the Georgia Association of Educators (local chapter), Board Member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast Georgia, and as an honorary member of the National Young Scholars Program as an educational leader and mentor. Currently, she is the women’s ministry founder and leader for a Christian support group fellowship (Women of Destiny) for college students and women in the community.
Dr. Mason’s smile, enthusiasm for serving others, and “sophisticated Southern accent” ™ are contagious and considered a few of the reasons she easily engages others and never meets a stranger. As a graduate of Clemson University, she is an avid college football fan and enjoys attending games, and/or watching and “coaching” the sport from the sofa sidelines during football season.
